Profile Intro
Your profile introduction will contain the following information:
- Your first (maiden/nickname) and last name
- Your profile photo
- Current job title
- Company where you currently work
- Your affiliation(s) to the institution
- Edit Profile button (Message button for other users, if they are allowed to message you)
- Other contact options you have added: Skype, Send calendar invite, Google Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, Links to your Facebook profile, LinkedIn profile, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Flicker
- Link to your Settings page
Summary & Education
Summary
If you registered with LinkedIn or later synced your LinkedIn profile, your LinkedIn summary will pull into your profile automatically. You can also edit your profile to add a summary.
Institution-specific Information/Education
This section will generally contain your degree information (universities), high school graduation year (K-12s), program information (non-academic institutions), etc.
You can add multiple degrees if relevant, but only degrees from this institution should be added in this section.
Other Education
If you have a degree, or other qualification, from an outside institution, this information can be added in this section of your profile.
Industry and Job Function
Your industry, based on the company where you are/were employed and your job function, based on the position in which you are currently employed, will appear in this section.
More about you
Other fields
This section may contain fields such as skills, interests, varsity sports teams, etc. You can choose your options from preset lists in Edit Profile.
Open Questions
These free-text questions are used to boost your profile and let others know more about you and your experiences.
Work Experience
If you registered with LinkedIn or later synced your LinkedIn profile, your work experience will pull into your profile automatically. You can also edit your profile to add your previous positions.
Willing to help & Mentoring Options
Depending on your institutions settings, you can opt in to help others and offer mentoring, or to ask for help and mentoring in specific areas. If a user has permission to request or offer help or mentoring to you, they will see the relevant options on your profile.
Location & Contact Information
Admin can allow for contact information, email, phone number and your personal website to appear on your profile, as well as your general location - country, state and city. Your home/mailing address is only visible for administrative purposes and will not be shown to other users.
If you do not want your contact or location information to appear on your profile, you can edit your privacy settings accordingly.
Personal Information
The information gathered at registration and from the Edit profile section differs from institution to institution. Personal information, such as date of birth, salary information, etc. should not appear on user profiles. If you are seeing information that you feel should not be public, please contact your site administrator.
