How To Bulk Import Contact Columns

You can import all of these columns when bulk importing a list of contacts from a CSV file. Email is the only required column; however, we recommend adding email, first & last name, and custom user id. 

A contact is created based on its email address. Every unique email address you provide will create a unique contact. However, if you upload [e-mail] times that will only count as one contact. If any imported emails are already in your account, we will update their contact information with the data from your latest import.

Recommended columns

• Email
  • • The email address of the contact. 
    • Example value - "[e-mail]"
• First Name
  • • The first name of the contact.
    • Example value - "John"
• Last Name
  • • The last name of the contact.
    • Example value - "Smith"
• Custom User Id
  • • The contact id of the contact in your CRM. For example, your Blackbaud system record id, Salesforce contact id, etc. 
    • Example value - "id_9lfsadf98234jal"

Optional columns

• Salutation
  • • The full name you want to use when addressing a contact. Salutation is commonly used when you want to address a household with the same name/merge field.
    • Example value - "Dr. and Mrs. Smith"
• Cell Number
  • • The cell number of the contact.
    • Example value - "281-330-8004"
• Opted Into Text
  • • The text opt-in status of the contact. You can't send texts to contacts unless they have opted into text. 
    • Example value - "TRUE"
• Custom Account Id
  • • The account id of the contact in your CRM. For example, your Salesforce account id. 
    • Example value - "act_90asdfjk234as"
• Birthday (MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY/MM/DD, or MM/DD)
  • • The birthday of the contact. MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY/MM/DD, or MM/DD are the accepted formats. If you import this column there is no need to import 'Date Of Birth - Day' or 'Date Of Birth - Month'
    • Example values - "12/28/1980", "1980/12/28", "12/28"
• Date Of Birth - Day
  • • The birthday day of the contact. You must import 'Date Of Birth - Month' too.
    • Example values - "1", "2", "3", ... "10", "11," "12"
• Date Of Birth - Month
  • • The birthday day of the contact. You must import 'Date Of Birth - Day' too.
    • Example values - "1", "2", "3", ... "29", "30," "31"
