Make Outlook Default Mail App on Windows

The Edit First Draft button is a mailto: link, which opens the body of your First Draft in a new email message window, and it sounds like your computer’s default setting is to open mailto: links in an email app other than in Outlook. (It’s not uncommon for these default settings to get reset after a system update.) Below, I’ve outlined the steps to take to select your preferred Email App as your default app. I always recommend taking the added step of updating the default app for mailto: links, so your Gravyty messages always open in the app that you prefer.

• From the Desktop, go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
• In the right panel, locate the option “Email”. If the program displayed is not your preferred Email App (e.g. Outlook), click on the app icon. 
• A “Choose an App” menu will pop up, click on your preferred email app. 

We recommend also changing the mailto protocol. 

• In the Default Apps Menu, scroll down, and locate the option “Choose Default apps by Protocol” 

• In the Choose default apps by protocol menu, locate “MAILTO”. Click on the app icon to choose a different app, (e.g. Outlook).
